Shibuya, Tokyo’s pulsing heart
Here, people meet, pass by, cross, penetrate into meanders of the gigantic
metropolitan of Tokyo, going elsewhere or eating together in a sushi bar or a
midnight diner.
Shibuya is Tokyo’s quintessence, the symbol of a people. Mayumi’s brush expresses
poetically and sensitively the mix of diverse feelings alternating from the pandemic beginning: anxiety, trust and hope.
The pandemic is still with us, Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games– surreal Olympic Games without public – imported new contagion, new positive cases.
In the dark tones of blue and black, almost a leaden cloud obscuring crowd, you can catch this sense of anxiety. Watercolour vanishes turning delicately into
yellow where people transit with restored normality the crosswalk most dense of the nipponic capital. A wish of trust and hope from Tokyo to the world.
